Go hard or go home

Today I woke up with zero motivation. I honestly didn’t want to run at all. I wanted to do this.

This doesn’t happen often, but when it does it is difficult to overcome. I find that when I really don’t want to run I might as well do the kind of running that is least pleasant to me and that is speed work. So instead of sitting in front of the t.v. with a stack of french toast (which is what I desperately wanted to do) I did quarter mile repeats on the treadmill. It is amazing how much a person can sweat. Really quite mind blowing.

So that isn’t me and that isn’t sweat, but you get it. I did 8 quarter mile repeats and a total of 7 miles with recovery, warm-up and cool-down. I felt a lot better after it was done and even managed a bicep and triceps work out.

Yesterday I had an overwhelming urge to go punch Punxsutawney Phil in the face. It wouldn’t really be that long of a drive and I’m sure we could throw together an excellent groundhog shepphards pie.

Of course I wouldn’t really do that. I have developed a fondness for groundhogs since our cat Coconut started seeing one this summer. I’m not kidding and I’m very curious about the nature of their relationship. Unfortunately Coconut isn’t talking and whenever they rendevous it’s under the neighbors deck. I don’t know much about interspecies relationships for all I know they might be forming an overeating support group.

I’m pretty sure she was reading over my shoulder because she’s definitely sucking in.
